The forbidden movie — the untold true story

They made the man. Nobody made the war that made him.

A Nisei soldier. A prison camp at home. A forest in France with no sky over it. The true history behind a face the whole world already knows — and no one has been allowed to film.

The count is climbing toward 1,000,000.

Why we're counting

This isn't a petition to change something. It's a demand to make something — a real film out of a real war that American audiences were never shown.

The man everyone remembers was invented. The war behind him was not. The second-generation Japanese-American soldiers of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team volunteered out of the same prison camps that held their families — and became the most decorated unit of its size in U.S. Army history. Their motto was “Go for Broke.”

We can't make this film. We don't own the character. But the people who do will chase a story the public is provably hungry for. The number is the argument. Add your name and the argument gets harder to ignore.
